Starcat’s Favorites: Oh the Irony

My previous post was all about health and wanting to improve mine, and how I’m rarely ill. Well, the Universe was determined to be a trickster about those statements! That very evening, I got sick with a virus of some sort. It started with a sore throat and soon moved to tiredness, a runny nose, and then a fever and earaches. The last time I had an illness like this was September of last year.

I guess my resolve to slow down wasn’t being enacted quickly enough! All of my plans for Sunday were cancelled, and I was in bed most of the day, and in a comfy chair with a book otherwise. Today I feel better and I think the fever is gone, but I have no voice. So here I am in the comfy chair once again. BlackLion is supplying me with tea and smoothies, and a lovely friend who lives nearby is going to bring me some veggie miso soup.

Luckily I’m blessed with lots of good reading material. The three books I’m reading right now are A Path With Heart by Jack Kornfield, Dancing with Dragons by George R.R. Martin, and The Hip Chick’s Guide to Macrobiotics by Jessica Porter. Most of the links below were ones I had saved before I got sick, having planned to do this post yesterday. I hope you enjoy them, and meanwhile I’ll be here at the laptop, seeking out some cool new discoveries while I heal. Blessings!

The Celtic holiday of Samhain was last week, and I found a couple of articles that really capture the spirit of this holiday. One by a druid friend of mine, and another in a fairly mainstream publication. Cool!

Some simple ways to uplift your thoughts and release stress.

A couple of weeks ago I posted a link about the first chakra. Well, apparently it’s a series! Here are the articles about the second chakra and the third chakra. More to come.

A growing focus on sharing rather than ownership. Love it!

Why it’s important to be yourself, even (or perhaps especially) in business.

For my fellow homeschoolers/unschoolers, here is something very cool about project-based learning. Check out part 1 and part 2.

And finally, I haven’t tried this so I can’t officially endorse it, but it just looked so wicked cool that I couldn’t leave it out. I haven’t decided yet if I’m going to sign up, but if I do I’ll let you know in a future post.
